If you're like me, you get impatient when the things you want out of this life doesn't happen right away, and you wonder when is MY time going to come? Also, I've heard people say if it's in God's will, it will be in God's time.
The last thing you want to hear when you're trying to make things happen, is you must have patience. Do you sometimes feel like your light of hope is burning very dim? That last phrase taken from the lyrics of the song entitled "Giving Up," by my favorite singer, Donny Hathaway. Giving up is hard to do? Hmm, I think the opposite is true. Giving up is easy to do, it's hard to hang in there, especially when you want something better.
Being an author, I've learned a great deal about the public--either they love you or they don't! Much like with everything else in life. I think Bonnie Rait said it best in her song entitled, "I Can't Make You Love Me!" Those lyrics speak volumes to my soul, but not for the reason in which the song was intended. Think about the lyrics, "I can't make you love me, if you don't. I can't make your heart feel something it won't. Here in the dark, in these final hours, I will lay down my heart, cause I feel the power, but you won't, no you won't, cause I can't make you love me, if you don't!" Those words are so haunting, yet so powerful.
There are no in betweens. Either you do or you don't! Which is why last weekend I wrote an open letter to my God. And I must say, I was not nice in this letter. I wrote some of the most despicable words that my heart had to say because I've been dealing with some bad situations, much like my last week's blog, and I had lots to say to Him. But what I found astounding was after I poured all my hate and anger out, I realized that if anyone can take these words I was spewing, it's God. I can only imagine some of the horrible things some of his other children must have said to Him from time to time, and I'm human and no different.
We want what we want when we want it, and the thing is, all in God's time and His will. You may not want to hear those words, and you may not want to agree with them, but the fact of the matter is~~that's real talk. When I read my open letter out loud, I couldn't believe I had that type of anger in me, but I felt cleansed and free, and I know God did it all. I actually laughed afterward and apologized tremendously because I didn't mean most of the stuff I said, but another true fact, God is Good, and He certainly knows my heart and my intentions.
I said that to say this, because let's face it, you knew where I was eventually going to go! Clarence Knight is dealing with the same things. Although I patented my main character after my baby brother, Clarence has a lot of me in him as well. As you follow him and his friends through their incredible journey, you're going to find out the truth hurts. Everything isn't always as it appears. It will be the honest people who can admit the truth that will truly feel this story. But, the question becomes, can you handle the truth? There's only one way to find out!
