A New Year. . .Now What?

HAPPY NEW YEAR Intellectual Minds and All!  I certainly hope your holidays were joyful and peaceful?

Not sure where you placed with your reading challenges for 2015, but the nice thing about a new year is we get to start all over again. As a reminder, please make your reading challenges reachable!   You want to be able to make your goals, not fail in your challenges. Of course, as I went on Goodreads, I see some of you have already begun making challenges you know there's not a snowball's chance in hell of reaching.  I don't know why you do this to yourselves?  I saw some reading challenges as high as 500 books for 2016.  As much as I would love nothing better than to read 500 books, I know there isn't any way I could live up to that.  So make sure you make goals that you may obtain, instead of those you already know you cannot live up to.  This way, you will not be disappointed at the end of the year when you discover you haven't even come close to making it.

I set my challenge to 52 books.  That's a book a week.  I didn't meet my goal last year due to technical difficulties that threw a rather unfavorable monkey wrench in my reading plans.  I still came away with 33 books read for the 2015 year, and I'm happy about that, but not as thrilled as I would normally be.  Most of the time I will read 75 or higher for the year, but that's ok, I have a clean slate, as do you!  So make the best use of your time and make reasonable reading challenges and let's get our goals met together--WE can do it!

As I believe most of you know, I do not make new year's resolutions, because most of the time, by the end of January, many people forego it anyway.  So, I say, what's the point?  It is our hope here at Mello & June that this year turns out to be a less violent one than 2015.  My God, there was so much hate and violence it was enough to make your head spin.  I'm so tired of it all.  I want some damn peace for 2016.  Something has got to give. You'd think with a new year perhaps people would be in the mindset to want to live better and do better as human beings?  Hmm, only time will tell I guess.  We've only begun this new year journey for a few days, so we'll have to wait and see what the rest of the year holds for us.

As in past years, I will continue to review books for authors and publishers.  My policy is still listed here on the blog.  I have limited the amount of books I will review.  I have so much of my own reading I need to catch up on seeing as how I missed a good 20 weeks of reading last year, I've got lots of catching up to do.

So, Readers, just wanted to let you know we're still here and we'll continue to bring you book reviews, author interviews, book selections, opinions and comments for the new year. All the things you've come to expect from us.  It's time to get back to the grind and do it all over again.   Wishing you a very Happy, Prosperous and Healthy New Year!
